The city of Písek intends to gradually rebuild the parking lots and connect them to an electronic parking system that will not only notify cars of available parking spots, but will also direct them to specific parking lots. It is therefore planned to purchase an electronic system that estimates the chance of empty space on a particular street.
Písek now has new smart parking lots
Parking applications designed for smartphones should also help drivers.
The first steps are "smart" solutions incorporated into the Svatotrojická Street reconstruction project, which also includes the reconstruction and expansion of the adjacent existing car park at Výstaviště, the construction of a bus terminal, and the installation of a charging station for electric cars. There is also an electronic parking system.
The proposed parking solution in the area Na Výstavišti Street is based on the longitudinal axis of Písek’s Výstaviště, where the view of the entire area is optically opened with the help of three streets parallel to this axis and perpendicular parking spaces on it. Výstaviště’s pedestrian area is connected to the promenade along the Otava River and the Stone Bridge by a pair of symmetrically arranged sidewalks near to the surrounding roadways that mimic the longitudinal axis. A suggested additional parking space parallel to this lane, lined with a sidewalk linking but also shutting the area, is proposed at the eastern end of the area, adjacent to the existing row of mature linden trees.
A bay for a two-bus bus terminal has been established on the perimeter road near the parking spaces on the south side of Výstaviště by the public toilets. Its proximity to the parking lot's system of sidewalks allows for a seamless pedestrian link to the city's historic district when combined with the newly built sidewalk between Svatotrojická Street and the river promenade.
The new parking places in front of the Svatotrojická cemetery and the Kozlovna restaurant are the most recent additions. The proposal is supported by planting plants to give the space a more comprehensive impression.
There will be additonal 45 parking spots for passenger cars with the new proposal.
