The Písek City Council authorized the Smart Písek organizational unit to submit an application for a subsidy under the South Bohemian Region Smart Cities subsidy program at its meeting on March 23, 2018. The request will be used to fund a project that will test the application of Internet-of-Things technology (IoT).
Internet of things
Internet of Things (IoT) is a new trend in the field of controlling and communicating common things with one another or with humans, particularly via wireless communications and Internet technologies.
These interconnected gadgets will allow for the collection of vast volumes of data that can be processed and used in a variety of fields, including logistics, healthcare, energy, transportation, meteorology, and others. This technique is also employed in the field of smart wiring, also known as "smart homes."
The term "Internet of Things" is only a catch-all word. Numerous devices, such as remote-controlled utilities (sockets, lighting), cameras, weather stations, and individual sensors, are already in use today. They do not, however, yet collaborate under a single technology and protocol. (taken from: https://www.iot-portal.cz/co-je-iot/).
Related activities:
- Provision of IoT infrastructure
IoT transmission infrastructure (LoRa technology-based network licensing) as well as relevant computing, storage, and control tools are provided. - Measurement of environmental parametres– external environment
Provision and deployment of a set of five weather stations with temperature, pressure, humidity, precipitation, wind speed and direction, and PM2.5 dust particle measurements. Internal CO2 concentration meters have also been obtained.
- Smart metering of water consumption
On a pilot basis, the ability to use the IoT network architecture to measure water use in the city's buildings was confirmed. Some school buildings, as well as the town hall and the Malthouse, were chosen for installation (whole water meters were not installed, only pulse readers).
Development of the Internet of Things in the smart metering area
- Smart electricity metres
Installation of secondary electricity meters with the ability to track electricity usage. energy, as well as remote readings Installed "smart" meters can not only read the amount of energy used, but also provide detailed information (eg reactive current, phases, etc.). Accurate secondary measurement will also enable building consumption to be optimized. - Secondary water measurement
Additional water usage meters were placed as part of the project "Pilot verification of the possibilities of the Internet of Things in the field of smart metering and environmental monitoring." It was a completely new secondary measurement in buildings in this situation.
