HEAD-IN-THE-SAND

Our office organized an event called "Hlava v Písku" (Head-in-the-Sand) at the end of October. This week-long event was directed at the citizens and inhabitans of Písek.

It will take place in the last week of October, specifically from October 25th to October 31st. This event will provide the public with a unique opportunity to visit a number of locations under the city's administration to which there is normally no access. "The goal of the week is to show people that the city is about more than simply the town hall, where people go to get stamps, but it is also about providing a number of important services and functions" explains Miloš Prokýšek, the head of Smart Písek.

For those who are interested, "Hlava v Písku" has a lot to offer, such as excursions to a new water treatment plant in Hradiště, a municipal heating plant, or a wastewater treatment facility. Visits to the composting plant at Smrkovice and the trash sorting plant at the Vydlaby dump will also be offered. Furthermore, a guided bus tour through the Písek Mountains or a tour of the Portyč cinema building, which also functions as a shelter and more, will undoubtedly provide an unforgettable experience.“We want people to have a behind-the-scenes look at the city. At the same time, they will be able to provide us feedback at any time and remark on how the city is operating in a variety of sectors," explains Smart Písek‘s official. Václav Cílek, a well-known scientific popularizer, geologist, and climatologist, will give a lecture in the municipal library on Thursday, October 28th. "Thematically, it will be followed a day later by the second Climathon, which will once again provide the opportunity to engage in the collaborative development of contemporary climate concerns," Miloš Prokýšek asserts, adding that if the pilot year is a success, the event would be repeated on a regular basis.

To participate in all events, it is necessary to register in advance on the Smart Písek website smart.pisek.eu where it is possible to find the complete program.
