Project meeting URBACT IV: Metacity in Újbuda

In April, our team visited Hungary, specifically Újbuda, to learn more about the integration of modern technologies into urban environments.

On April 4th and 5th, 2024, we participated in a two-day project meeting of the Metacity project within the URBACT IV initiative, which took place in Budapest, specifically in its 11th district, Újbuda.

On the first day of the meeting, we began with a visit to the local organization Adaptér, which, similar to the Czech Smart Písek, focuses on integrating modern technologies into urban environments and hosting educational workshops for the public. After visiting this organization, a local architect and urban planner guided us through Újbuda and introduced us to several projects that connect modern technologies with architecture, demonstrating how innovation shapes urban spaces. We concluded the day with a virtual reality tour of Buda Castle, showcasing how augmented reality can enrich the tourist experience.

The second day was marked by an interactive seminar where we discussed the ethics and benefits of artificial intelligence. We delved into questions of how AI can enhance urban services and how to address challenges related to privacy protection and data security.

The entire program was focused on sharing experiences and building connections among participants from across Europe, contributing to the development and innovation within European cities in the URBACT project.
