Climathon is a global event that takes place every year on November 13 in more than 150 international cities at the same time. It's a climate-change-themed hackathon. People will gather with enthusiasm and the aptitude to confront the difficulties that cities face at this event.
Climathon is a competition that brings together innovators, entrepreneurs, students, and professionals to propose novel solutions to urban climate change challenges. These issues affect almost every city on the planet. Písek took part in the event this year and helped to establish the main competition area for the competitors. The first year in Písek was devoted to improving the quality of the environment in the city, with a focus on water use in the city, city dehydration, and water loss in urban areas. The primary purpose was to promote municipal awareness of ongoing climate change.
This event promoted two primary themes in collaboration with the general population. The first involves using water from the Three Ponds to create a cascade of accumulation and retention reservoirs. The second is a plan to build an educational path with an informational and instructional component that will focus on the importance of water in the city and how it is used in the landscape.
The successful event will be repeated the following year under the name Climathon Písek 2021.
