The fundamental goal is to bring together projects that already accomplish comparable things and encourage them to share best practices, lessons learned, ideas, and research findings. The city of Písek was invited to join in the project as part of an international collaboration called + CityxChange, and the Czech Technical University's University Center for Energy Efficient Buildings is involved.
COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is an EU-funded organization that permits scientists and innovators from all over the world to collaborate on collaborative research projects known as COSTActions. COST provides a platform for collaboration and networking among a diverse group of researchers who share common interests, however these studies are not sponsored directly by the EU.
COST principally intends to connect and facilitate information sharing and participation of young researchers. Since its inception in 1971, European collaboration in scientific and technology research has grown to include 38 member states and one partner country.
The Positive Energy Districts European Network call focuses on the soft projects that lead to R&D, such as networking, studies, mapping and synthesis of current research, matchmaking, and sharing of good practice.
